12 Workshop Products Our Own Employees Swear By

The BORA Tool team has a wide variety of hobbies outside of work, but a common one among most of us is woodworking and home improvement. Makes sense for a tool company, right? So we asked around the virtual office to see what tools and shop products our employees recommend hands-down for many of their projects. Scroll down and see what the BORA team swears by!

SKIL Circular Saw

Our Social Media Manager is new to woodworking, so she reached out to Sarah Listi at Tool Girl’s Garage and Rob Rein of Ginger Woodworks for circular saw recommendations. Both recommended SKIL as a good brand for newbies on a budget – so she bought it and loves it.

 Japanese Pull Saw

Japanese Pull Saw

Product Manager Rod calls his Japanese pull saw a “tried and true friend in my workshop.” It’s a very easy hand saw to control, which makes it easier when you’re working on dovetails and other joinery.

Titebond II

This is a must-have for many users. Our National Accounts Manager, Mark, likes Titebond II because it has a fast tack and relatively short clamp time for handling so he can keep working. Plus, it cleans up with water before it dries.

Electric Hand Planer

This can be a budget-friendly option if you don’t have the funds for a regular hand plane or a planer machine. One of our employees likes to work with end grain and he has been pleased with his results using an electric hand planer.

Little Giant Ladders King Kombo Ladder

This ladder gives you the quality of Little Giant Ladders without a crazy price tag. One of our employees has this ladder and says “it’s perfect for one-story homes when you need to clean the gutters or trim big hedges and tree branches.”

knife for marking wood

Marking Knife

Rod prefers to use a knife instead of a pencil for marking lines. It gives him a finer top edge, which is better for fine woodworking pieces, especially when marking out mortises or setting in hinges.

DeWalt Cordless Drill

This is a common tool from a trusted brand, but the reason our in-house writer, Sarah, recommends it is because it fits easily in her hands, which are small. As a DIY newbie, she feels very comfortable using this drill.

Gorilla Glue

When he’s restoring rummage sale finds, Mark likes to use Original Gorilla Glue. “Polyurethane-based glue expands as it cures, so it does have some gap-filling characteristics. Comes in handy when a small chuck of material is missing off an item. Downside is it expands while curing so it’s not my go-to for everything.”

 Woodpeckers square

Woodpeckers Square

Another must-have that woodworkers will agree with. Product Manager Rod has a specific Woodpeckers square that he favors when he’s working on drawers or setting up his router table or bandsaw.

Level

Having recently bought a house, our Social Media Manager uses her level every time she hangs something on the wall. It seems like a no-brainer, but it’s been invaluable to her to make sure her space looks as put-together as possible.

Dremel Multitool

A multitool is always a great tool to have in your back pocket (not literally, of course) while working on any project. Our Email Manager has used it on a variety of projects and likes to keep it handy for trimming small pieces of wood on a project.

Centipede CK6S

Several people at the company mentioned loving their Centipede workstands, and the CK6S is the most popular model among BORA employees. Mark uses his every weekend to work on home projects or restore antiques, our in-house writer uses hers for painting, and our Social Media Manager’s husband uses it when he works on his car.
